Palin Ramps Up War on Press
Just because Sarah Palin will soon no longer be governor doesn’t mean she won’t stop being a bully: “Gov. Sarah Palin’s attorney threatened Saturday to sue mainstream news organizations if they publish ‘defamatory’ stories relating to whether Palin is under federal investigation,” according to Politico. In a four-page letter, Alaska-based attorney Thomas Van Flein wrote, “This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law.” Meanwhile, Palin hinted in a Facebook message on Saturday that she might run for president in 2012 by following her “higher calling.” She wrote, "I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint.”

Go git 'em, Sarah! They're all nothing but a bunch of liberal idiot wussies. The reason they attack you and your family is because they fear the coming anti-Obama backlash. We're headed for double-digit unemployment, double-digit inflation and double-digit interest rates, the deficit has tripled, the liberal-dominated House has just passed the hokey Cap and Trade bill, Obama is talking about taxing medical benefits, which may soon be socialized healthcare. I'd say it's going to be a wide open field in 2012. I remember Jimmy Carter.
Obviously Jake-
You've been napping
For the last eight years.
Maybe longer-
And that's why your most
Recent memory is Jimmy Carter.
You don't remember everything blowing up
As Bush headed for the door?
Well I'm here to tell you- It was a pretty big mess.
Big enough to crash the world economy
And bring down the International banking system.
So big in fact it may take
A few more months to fix.
Rita,
You continually counter slogans with facts, name calling with what actually happened. You won't win many friends that way.
Jimmy Carter is very relevant. I voted for him and I see myself in a lot of young people who voted for Obama. We hated the rich, we hated Nixon, we hated the Viet Nam war and we bought the post modern liberal argument. What we wound up with was double digit unemployment, double digit inflation, double-digit interest rates and all around malaise. In 1980 we all voted for Ronald Reagan and never voted for another liberal -- or a Democrat, for that matter. The older liberals know this lesson. That's why they fear Sarah Palin -- and all conservatives. Because in 1976 you couldn't get a Republican elected dog catcher, but after four years of Jimmy Carter, we elected Ronald Reagan. 2012 is going to be a wide open election. And the liberal leadership knows this.
Jake-
To say that 'Liberals'
Fear Sarah Palin is to imply
That they take her seriously-
Even the Republican party
Doesn't do that anymore.
Rita.... you missed my point. The liberal pseudo-intelligencia are nervous. Obama's numbers have fallen from the high 70s to the mid 50s in less than 6 months. Jimmy Carter was the last true liberal Democrat president. He was very popular right up until the 1980 election, but he put this country in the toilet -- even worse than George Bush did. Jimmy Carter caused the Reagan Revolution. The parallel with Obama is striking. That's why the liberal media and the liberal establishment are compelled to destroy any potential conservative candidate in advance of the 2012 election. They fear the Jimmy Carter Syndrome.
Jake-
I didn't miss your point.
I just think you're all wet.
Using your analogy I'll say
That it's more accurate to point out
That George Bush made Obama possible-
And the country won't go near
A Republican again for a minimum
Of 16 years after one of the most
Traumatic Presidencies
In American history.
PS- Palin's biggest success
Is dividing Obama's opposition
And thereby strengthening
His position.
It was a media made agenda of daily Bush bashing to protect Barny, the gay brothel in the basement Franks, Chris, better than anyone, Dudd from their criminal activity with Franklin Rains & ACORN of Freddy and Fanny in addition to being just plain sore losers. The program started by Jimmy the communist sweater wearing American hater Carter and advanced by BJ Bill Clinton, Franks and Dudd fought 8 Bush attempts and won, starting in 03 to draw back and regulate the program that caused the economic disaster O is advancing with is pathetic agenda for America. you should really start mixing up your social life with people other than those thinking like yourself. It might surprise you to actually learn the truth.
right on.I find it incredulous the wingnuts are blaming Obama for this mess after only 6 months in office.
@connie47: glad to read someone is interested in facts so I'd like to see yours and how they differ from what Rita says.
Less than a year ago the Repub administration instigated the concept and first huge welfare check called 'stimulus' before leaving after the economy collapsed. Now who caused it? It was both parties that created major pillars in this. Bush I removed Congressional oversight over Freddie Mae/Mac so when the Repubs including McCain tried to stop the inevitable a few years ago they found out they didn't have the power! Ever wonder why McCain went radio silent on that issue after being the congressional ringleader? Also Clinton under heavy lobbiest pressure from the banking industry allowed the sub-prime set up. It made political sense that he and Bush II leveraged: low income people in houses, part of the American dream. How do I know this? Read an interesting London Times article that linked to archived NYT articles reporting each of these as they occured -- fascinating portrait.
More than a blame game, if you don't think it's the right thing to do, what is? Or are you simply out to shut Rita up?
@jakedog: as for the name calling, "liberal media" is an interesting one the Repubs created as I recall in the Reagan era. Curious what your source is as I've been hearing this for the last 20 years but don't see it. In my hometown we've got one liberal radio station and three conservative. The paper swings wildly one way and the other based on issues, which I think is appropriate. Maybe that's just us.
Repubs are simply *brilliant* at catchy name calling and labels. 'Card carrying member of the ALCU', 'Socialist', 'Un-American', 'Moslem'. This is an area of manipulation the Dems are sorely lacking, as it creates real power with a voting population -- simple minds that aren't interested in questioning but simply want to believe what they fear or their preachers tell them is *right*. Dems need to catch up on this imho although it says quite a bit that they haven't as a Party. Labels and name calling are what seem to pass for political discourse today, it appears it's what most Americans are capable of based on all the name calling and simple labels I read.
I cycle through major news sources world-wide including the ridiculously biased ones U.S. sources like Fox and MSNBC. So please, let's have a non-label, non name calling discussion about what we should be asking our politicans to do on our behalf.
@jakedog: Do you remember the "Whip Inflation Now" campaign that Gerald Ford started? Interesting too that in my state during the entire 1980s the economy collapsed and there wasn't real recovery until the dot com boom in the mid-90s.
The point is when did you start seeing administrations as being responsible for all of this (which puts you on a very weak stance) and not the bigger picture of cause and effect? And much of it doesn't begin or end in the U.S.
Rita:
Looks like you've been napping for the last six months
Veronica-
Connie's post was tongue-in-cheek.
Ritarita, you aare so right. Some Reps have amnesia when it comes to the last 8 years of George Bush. They NEVER criticized a thing he did, but can't STOP criticizing Obama. And they think they'll be back (Reps, that is) in 2010!! LOL
Jake -- The late seventies inflation started with NIXON'S early 70's economic policies. The inflationary spiral started Rummy's learned counsel on mmatters monetary. Ford was completely unable to find a handle on inflation and Carter was the scapegoat for a decade's worth of U.S. loony economic and monetary policy. Reagan's "revolution" was a deep two-year recession. And then he went right on and doubled the national debt after 8 years in office.
Obama inherited another decade of economic stupidity by Republicans.
Is Obama another Carter? Obama is a supremely practical man. That is how you get an African American junior senator to the White House.
Obama, another Carter? We shall see.
Newswoman...obviously you didn't listen to a lot of conservative talk show hosts who hammered Bush on a number of his policies.
Jakedog, you are a sell out. You talk like one and by your actions you seem to be someone who sold their ideals for the almighty dollar. You're f***ing gross.
@ Veronicaxy
I'm confused by your post. I agree with Rita and said so. Now you're telling me I tried to shut her up? That's a very strange way to read my post. BTW, I agree with you, too.
The "coming anti-Obama backlash"?
What happened to the conservative and Republican mantra of supporting the president no matter what otherwise the terrorists win and the anti-presidenter hates America?
I agree it's a shame that conservative principles - deregulation, money-is-God, sky's-the-limit-on-spending-when-it-comes-to-unnecessary-war, Reagan-era-inspired unleashed and unmitigated greed - so badly damaged the economy, but to pin it on Obama would be hilarious if it weren't so absurd.
I'm no Obama acolyte, but your position is ridiculous, not that ridiculousness seems to have mattered much in Republican circles for a while.
Gov. Palin, GWB, Rove, Cheney, Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, O'Reilly, Beck, Savage...all Exhibit As!
And did you blindly support President Bush? Somehow I don't think so. I think you really mean that we should follow the president blindly when the president is a liberal democrat. I might not agree with everyone who posts on this website, but do think we all have a right to criticize our government. If you don't like it when people disagree with your point of view, I suggest your stick with Democrat Underground.
Jake,
No, I did not blindly support Presidente Bush. I supported almost nothing he did, in fact.
That is irrelevant. I (nor Democrats) never claimed that everyone should support the president, that dissent is unpatriotic and evidence of wanting the terrorists to win and hating America and wanting America to lose, etc.
Conservatives and Republicans did. Indeed, it was Democrats and liberals saying that dissent is patriotic and very American.
I'm suggesting that people stay consistent in their principles and what the preach and claim, and let's face it, while there is no shortage of hypocrisy on either side of the aisle, the GOP and conservatives are really having a particularly bad time of it right now, what with their "family and moral values" platform having been blown all to hell (pun intended), their free market deregulation philosophy having been blown all to hell, and now their insistence that criticizing and not supporting the president is nothing short of hating America being suddenly buried, not to mention their post-9/11 mantra about how the president inherited problems.
Practice what thou preacheth.
It is relevant, Dan. Because now you think conservatives should support Obama, even after you admit that you didn't support Bush. I have no problem with your non-support of Bush. I do have a problem with anyone who thinks I need to support Obama or else I am a hypocrite. There is a perfect website for people like that. It's called Democrat Underground. You can log in, and anyone who disagrees with you and anyone else who shares your opinion will be kicked of the website.
Jake,
I have not said I think they should support the president.
I'm saying they should practice what they preach (or not preach it).
I merely asked what happened to their Bush-era insistence that everyone support the president or else America would lose, etc.
Do they now want America to lose?
I'm just trying to understand THEIR change of heart on the matter.
Ritarita..... I think we can agree to disagree. If we are mired in double-digits, the next Republican Revolution is a lot closer than 16 years. People can forget a lot, but liberalism creates malaise. This is something my generation learned in the 70s and something your generation will learn soon. Talk to me in 2012. If you still support Obama, I will be surprised.
Jake-
I'm loyal.
When I find something I like
I stick with it.
There simply is no one
On the political landscape
Who is as smart and even-tempered as Obama.
The evidence of this is slowly becoming apparent
In International relations.
I expect the Country will come to realize
The wisdom of their Presidential choice
Even more as the years roll on.

Why are Republicans so bellicose? Their lexicon is all either war/battle or nutty religious ("higher calling", Republican Revolution, etc.).
You guys need to calm down and stop seeing everything and everyone as being an enemy to be vanquished.
Cripes.
"Absolutely. Yup, yup."
Hey Charles...they said we would elect a socialist liberal black president when pigs fly...now we have swine flu.
I wouldn't like to be like Ritarita, I may like a boat but if it starts to sink, I wouldn't stick with it.
I believe common sense would prevail, I hope she can swim.

It's fitting that the shrinking, largely regional GOP has been leading the fight against Cap and Trade. Climate change skepticism , in some ways is the perfect convergence between the most rigid kind of fundamentalism and the most short-sighted version of capitalism. Confronting climate change will create new industries, new technologies, and other ways to advance the economy. The GOP clearly sees no reason to confront the future or even the world in which we live. Yet, they will be the first to complain when their entrenched interests are threatened by changes in climate.
The right wing in America and elsewhere believe in voodoo economics, fundamentalist morality (for other people), violent peacemaking, and junk science. Lord help us. We know these folks sure won't.
voodoo economics like Obama's trillions more of debt? regional GOP, as in west coast only? because there are lots there. one-size doesn't fit all.....try thinking outside of the box. Climate change is very real, but cap and trade will just be a costly bureaucratic mess. Gradually phasing in efficient, emission-free products is the way to go.

Totallydebilitated, you are being mean and nasty, this is only a blog site, calm down.
your vitriol is the fuel that will drive the engine of those you hate.
I reckon you are familiar with American football. Jakedog, you and those like you supply what coaches call "bulletin board material". Your attitudes, voiced without nuance or articulation, are the exact thing that make you opposites (among whom I count myself) stronger in our convictions.
Thank you for being an example of what we try not to be.
Raperwit: My you are so good and articulate.
It's nice you can take the time to tell us about yourself.

Go git'em sarah!.. what a joke(lol)
..Palin is not up to the task of taking on the media..as like she wasn't doing the presidential campaign..and also at present..and probably why she is stepping down for what EVER the REA REASONL for QUITING as Gov. of Alaska.. something is up and the plot will thicken..most likely it's money.. she's in debt 3 times plus... her GROSS salary worth.
Were we headed for double digits employment much earlier than before now ..wasn't the banking system failing based upon GREED of the RICH and infamous thieves on wall street ? Wasn't the Automotive industry failing also?..two wars of which (ONE) we as americans didn't need to participate IN..do I need to go on? And so this happened when? SINCE November of 2008?
The American ppl are a lot smarter than you speak of( smarter than you you apparently).. WE know it took YEARS (under the bush admin) to get into this mess..and its gonna take more than (9) months to get out of this mess .. and the Obama Admin. has said this from the START..
The sentiment of FEAR-FEAR-FEAR and GREED is what GOT us into this recession ..and its gonna take disclosure, HARD WORK, living within our needs, and rebuilding trust across ALL barriors domestically and internationally.. that will get "WE THE PEOPLE" out of this recession with some sense stability.. Granted.. a stimulus package is not what I would have wanted as a tax payer upon the gravity of expenditures presented.. however, what other alternatives was there?
Oh for goodness sake! The public remembers that all of the above is George Bush's legacy to Amereica not Obama's. You Reps are unbelievable as you try to wiggle out of this. Go hide you head in shame with the rest of you ilk, in a closet.
Sarah has the right to pursue her own interests. And she should sue for defamation, definitely. It's a free country and she has the right to voice her opinions. If she ends up with a syndicated TV program of her own, I say, more power to you Sarah!
"Absolutely. Yup, yup."
What a lot of people don't remember is that the Carter administration inherited economic dificulties were brought about by 4 major U.S. spending sprees. One was the space program, two was the Cold War, three was the removal of the U.S. from the gold standard, and last but not least was the Vietnam War.
The removal from the gold standard allowed the Federal Government to mortgage the future. Spend what you don't have. Jimmy Carter tried to balance a runaway budget. Ronald Reagan believed in credit card economics.
Obama has to mortgage the future just to stay out of a depression which may very well happen anyway. Either way, the conservative Presidents seem to be the most damaging administrations. 16 years in keeping them away seems too short. How about till I'm dead?
vchaircis!
Gold Standard ...Wilson results... major mistake
Space program....Jack Kennedy
The Great Society....Lyndon Johnson
Cold War.... Harry Truman
Vietnam War......Kennedy Johnson
Low income housing with the Goverment setting quotas to lending institutions
Jimmy Carter
Note these were all Democrats.
I believe the space program has given too many benifits to list... Kennedy good job.
The cold war was ugly but we were not hurt from it, the russians didn't know what to do, but it kept them pouring money in to it while their people starved.... Truman good job
Russians kicked out of Cuba. Kennedy...good job
Kennedy cut taxes, got rid of the Federal Reserve and looked what happened to him, terrible to thing for the last great Democratic President
Vietnam was tragic, but armed conflicts are always tragic. Johnson lied to the American people about it while our young people died...you make the call.
You need to get the facts before just throwing out idle comments.
Having lived through all of this I believe Obama will make even the inept Carter look like a rocket scientest.
"...the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law,"
Should the "mainstream press" report on this story I really don't think dragging them into court will help anyone except the newspapers sell more copies.
Personally I believe that regardless of whether or not this story has any truth to it by actively threatening anyone that is even considering reporting on it she has invoked the Streisand effect and this case will now (at least on internet sites/blogs/forums) get more attention than it would have otherwise.
The only issue
That the Palins have is the Palins.
Notice how few REAL issues they actually have.
It's all Sarah all the time.
Does she mention anything else?
No she doesn't - because
She's not interested in anything else.
Your rant sounds like the Obama media that was Obama all the time and still is. Now there selling access to the clown.

Uncalled for, esp. from someone whining about a public figure being "attacked".
Learn to debate in a civilized way.
"Absolutely. Yup, yup."
I hope all you liberals are happy, we lost a great woman today. 20 years from now- we will celebrate "Sarah" day in secret.
1) We will have to because our future Soviet masters now have free reign over Alaska airspace.
2) The communist wing of the Republican party-led by Colin Powell and John McCain will be in power.
3) Alaska will be overrun by evil wolves(who would have been shot by the governor).
4) Most children will be pregnant and gay because of what is taught in school and available at public libraries.
5) All of those babies will be aborted.
Do the right thing all of you real americans left: Before you take any action- ask yourself, WWSD?
P.S. She would make a wristband and sell it to raise funds.
hahahahaha, classic!
and still talking about abortion! Get out of my business. If I want an abortion for medical reasons, I'll have one! Remember, IT IS LEGAL AND WILL REMAIN SO.
Medling in people's private lives lost the credibility and the election for the REPS, thank God.

Great use of irony. LMAO!
Rickjr82, you are totally paranoid and fearful of EVERYTHING, even the Russians. And to call Colin Powell and John McCain, who fought for our country, communists is beyond belief. At one time the Reps said you had to support the troops, whether you supported the war or not, but now, it is okay to criticize true war heroes! I don't get it. You change your beliefs when it suits you. You don't make sense.
Rick's being funny.
He's pulling a Colbert on you.
i think you missed the point...
wait! unless you're being ironic as well. man, i am getting confused.
They are the worst kind... small government, free trade, religious pinkos.
With special Agent Eric Gonzalez statement confirming that there is absolutely no investigation into this matter the media will have to make up something else. This certainly calls into question Max Blumenthals journalistic integrity and professionalism after yesterdays hack job, rumour and innuendo based hit piece. He cited no named sources and did no proper research. Of course if he got sued he could truthfully use ignorance as a defense.

Hey Libs- lets talk about our fellow brothers and sisters looking for a job. Not be worry about great American and next 2 terms president of USA, Sarah Plain- wake up pals- this is Obama's economy. The highest unemployment since Obama's first term in 1976, 11.2 trillion dollars deficit, losing two wars, 487,000 jobs were lost during the month of June- hey libs, Obama said if the Congress passed his stimulate plan, Caterpillar would start hiring- well the plan was passed, he signed, and tax payers got shafted, and Caterpillar not only not hiring, but just laid off 1000 employees. so, can we concluded that the Bamster has failed miserably once again, as he did in 1976...you little Lilly infected wal-mart chicken liver, do not blame the great American GW Bush for libs failure.
8 years of prosperity and job creation under GW.
The Zit
Sarah was very popular. She had recently won a beauty contest and with her cowgirl attitude was quite popular with boys in her community. She used her looks and popularity and eventually was mayor of her town. As she had some street smarts she managed to move up in local politics and apparently there was not much competition and soon she was governor.
Then the day came, she developed a huge zit on her face. All of her friends and followers didn't see it or didn't acknowledge it. When anyone that did not agree with her personal agenda pointed out the huge zit and even made suggestions on how she could get rid of it she would become very upset and whined that they were bad people. She would even attempt to rile up her followers and friends to help fight these evil people who kept pointing out the huge zit on her face.
She kept picking at the huge zit and as zits do when you mess with them, it grew and grew, eventually exuding green pus and really grossing people out. The more people pointed it out the angrier she became, threatening law suits if anyone mentioned her huge zit.

I pray to God she does'nt become president I would fill unsafe for me and my family.NOT IN MY BACKYARD.
If we get an Obama birther to reply to you, does that equal a moderate?
What is an Obama birther?
I think that means rumor starter.
Actually it means
Unhinged conspiracy nut.
It's those dudes who think that Obama can't be Prez because he wasn't born in this country. You know, the crazies that usually also belong to a militia and think that gun safety is exercising their constitutional right to double fist Mac-10s.
Gov. Palin owns the moral high ground, which explains why she continues to put her attackers in their place. Letterman, or The Huffington Post come at her from the gutter and because of her integrity she will win every time. Want prove? Watch how this post get intimidated.
Oh really!
Gets intimidated???
More like laughed at.
Palin owns the moral high ground and has integrity? Have you done ANY looking into her background?
P.S. A wise politician doesn't engage in tit-for-tat with the press. It's actually amateurish and shows a lack of political acumen and leadership skills and rather reveals pettiness.
If every politician - and esp. presidential candidate - took on the press over defamation, that's all they'd ever do.
The Iranian clerics are also engaging in press intimidation, though. Not sure what's up with the right in America wanting so badly to emulate theocracies and dictatorships, but it's creepy.

Your interesting rhetoric aside, it does look like Palin has been unfairly attacked in a lot of ways. Certainly the repudiation of the ethics charges is important support for that point as is the large number of people who would like to dismiss her as merely stupid. That being said, her public performances seem far from moral----the attacks she leveled at Obama had no honor to them and the whole way she tried to twist Letterman's and other's statements to seem like they had launched attacks on her minor children were quite disingenuous. So if its morals you want to point out....well she seems more weasel-like than honest though I guess that's par for the course in politics.
The one I remember was "What is a community organizer?" I believe she is eating those words daily!
Ottoheinz
But remember Sarah Palin promised with her whole sincere being, that she would be different from "politics as usual". She did not deliver !
And the crime of it was she knew from her prior pathetic experience, she knew she could not, and yet continued to pull the wool over on her naive followers. I object.
And things are going
To get CRAZY fast-
Now that she's decided
TO SUE THE WHOLE INTERNET.
Awesome!
Letterman's so-called jokes at Palin's expense were unfunny and crude. However, he finally did apologize. That said, Palin does not own the moral high ground. And what do you mean "Want pove"? and "Watch how this post get intimidated"? That is not English that I can understand. She was in over her head and it showed.
She has exploited her children, cheated with contractors, lied, manipulated the press and when they don't buy it, she gets mad.. Wait, she supported her husband in secession and tried to connect Obama with terrorists when she knew it was not true but gladly lied and knowingly put him in danger given the crackpots who go to her rallies-- she has alienated just about everyone and has a tiny cabal around her who have convinced her she is smart enough to run.. and christ, she still can't speak! Youda thunk she would have boned up these past weeks, eh?.. She is a wolf in sheep's clothing and hardly "owning any high ground" Far from it.. There will be more scandal to come and the press won't be threatened by the likes of her- she sounds and writes like a Freshman highschooler for god's sake! She wants it, she will get it and she deserves it all- I love it.. How dare she think she can be president of this country.. are we stupid? She may think so... Watch out Sarah, this stage you set is only a reflection of you and your idiocy and you cannot survive.. You will go under because you have too much hubris for anyone's taste, even those in your own Party.. Try reading The Atlantic and National Review-- oh yeah, you don't read-...
Sarah Palin is a quitter. She is not keeping her promise to serve the people of Alaska. She is "selling out" for fame and fortune.
Sarah is no quitter. She's using this time to get her GED; college didn't "take" very well.
Like I said on an earlier thread, Palin is a classic grifter, bleed your mark, which happenend to be the people of Alaska, and then move on to the next sucker. Like any good grifter its about stuffing her pockets, book deals, paid speeches and TV spots. The next mark for this family of grifters is the lower 48.
Cold but apt.
As soon as Obama was given a senate seat he started running for Pres. No different than Palin except Palin she has a track record of success. I'll bet you and all your rug rats would love getting one of her $3,500.00 checks every year to go along with your welfare and food stamps.. Where's Obama's senate record beyond ACORN ? There is none... Where's the school records ? He was afraid to make them public, and the birth certificate ? afraid to show that also.
MaliciousDisorder, your moniker is apt.
What record of success does Palin have? Please back up this claim with facts. Have you read the Portfolio article on the gasline to nowhere? Have you checked for legislation she has filed (like the energy bill that she put in so late this year that the Republican-led AK legislature said it wouldn't consider until next year)? What track record? Are you talking about her pattern of hiring Wasilla H.S. cronies to state posts? Palin has quit every job she has held in two years to run for something else.
This thread wasn't about Obama, but you unloaded your bile about him anyway.
There is no senate record of his on ACORN. His school records and birth certificate have been online several times. Do you really believe that someone becomes president of the Harvard Law Review, works for a national law firm and teaches constitutional law at one of the best universities in the country with a flimsy background?
OR does that epithet apply to someone who took five years in four colleges to get a journalism degree -- and who can't speak or think literately, despite that degree? How do you explain her lies, like those exposed in Vanity Fair? Expect Palin to show up on Fox. She'll fit right in with the other talking heads, who will hate sharing the spotlight.
It's obvious that Sarah misses the adoring crowds and the media attention. The hard work of governing was boring by comparison. She'll make money on her book and possibly with a show on Fox.
She could be a talking head like Hannity, Rush, Malkin and Coulter {who are more in the comic vein like Stewart, Maher and Colbert on the left) and have a following in that regard.
Her chances at becoming president are as slim as the above mentioned pundits. Maybe I better check with my lawyer before I hit submit, tho.
Yes-
Be careful what you say
About ex-Governor Palin.
She has made it clear in her latest release
That she WILL come after you.
Politics is a contact sport.
If only Sarah Palin
Could comprehend that.

She has got to be kidding! What does she consider defamatory? Facts? She bitches about the media mentioning her offspring, that her family is privaye, yet she had no trouble pimping them out on the campaign trail at every chance she got
What a piece of shit she is
First off, I hope I as a citizen of the United States of American still have a right to free speech without being hunted down by Sarah's gestapo goon squad. Sarah exercised her right to free speech throughout the campaign when everyone who opposed her was slammed with a label of socialist, terrorist, etc.. Apparently only Sarah's opinion matters.
There has never been a candidate so thin-skinned before. Sarah needs to get out of the kitchen if she can't stand the heat from the pilot light.
Also, Sarah doth protest too much with this threat. This just convinces me that the media blood hounds are on the right track.
Let's go crazy--sarah palin crazy. Let's disrespect her by no longer capitalizing her name. Will she sue every commenter and blogger in America?
It was F. Scott Fitzgerald who said "fascism" in America would come by those "wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross".....
Sounds exactly like Sarah Palin and her ilk doesn't it?
AlwaysOpt: Thanks for this quote; I've never seen it before. It reminds me of Samuel Johnson's dictum that "patriotism is the last refuge of the finished scoundrel."
Now theres someone to look up to.
I agree completely. Citizens of the United States should have a right to free speech without being hunted down by the gestapo. And and I hope no late night goon squad hosts make jokes about your teenaged daughter getting impregnated by an baseball player in front of 20,000 people during a public event because that would really be an example gestapo tactics.
Was it a Gestapo tactic when Rush Limbaugh compared Chelsea Clinton to a dog?
How can it be that conservatives are just now realizing that late-night comics make randy jokes about politicians (and others)?
Problem with the right wing is that they have one standard for themselves (no jokes, please!) and one for everyone else (Limbaugh's dog joke, mocking someone with Parkinsons, Coulter's attacking 9/11 widows and Elizabeth Edwards over her dead son, etc. - well, hilarious stuff, folks! and if not funny, true so legit!).
What you don't get is that this is all backlash from the Republican "Family Values" platform YOU foisted on the country. It was a stupid idea since it was inevitable that it would come back to haunt them since - brace yourself for shocking news - even conservatives and Republicans are mere mortals with flaws and moral failings (no, Bill Clinton did NOT in fact invent moral failure!).
It was Palin yammering about abstinence and trying to make it a national platform, and if you can 't see the irony in that and how SHE opened the door to criticism, considering her circumstances, then you need to take a closer look. It'd be like Bill Clinton speechifying about fidelity, which he never did.
She set herself up for that criticism, and it's legitimate criticism. My suggestion would be for Republicans to continue on the road they're now on, which is to go silent on the family and moral values crap and keep hoping it goes away.
in the meantime, they're going to have to put up with some much-deserved ribbing and calling out of their hypocrisy.
Somehow the term gestapo got warped in translation. The gestapo didn't needle people with jokes(that would be free speech). They hauled away and killed anyone who even slightly disagreed with them. Google it.
And if my 20 year-old daughter were to be impregnated I would prefer either A-Rod or Letterman to Jakedog030.
for once Jake OK, Leave the kids alone.
don't you mean: Je conviens complètement.
teehee
"Absolutely. Yup, yup."
I trust this means that you object to the foul language, defamation of character, racist barbs and other mean-spirited bile that daily spills from Limbaugh's and Coulter's mouthes in the name of free speech?
You can't cherry-pick which "gestapo tactics" you plan to object to. Either we all want more civil discourse or both the Right and the Left will continue to rant. We have a choice, but as long as we support radio and TV hosts, comedians and commentators spill disdainful, destructive language into our airwaves and print and online, they will do so. "We, The People" deserve better so think about that the next time you get incensed -- selectively -- about what outrages you.
Seems to me the folks that are dispondent over Sarah's threats are the media themselves. If this defamation is in fact false, you deserve what you get. If it's true, she's toast.
I for one am sick of the media creating events to sell ads. Normal folks read your lies and think it's true. Retractions are in 6 point type a month later. Bogus
