Going Rogue

Palin Second Only to Bubba in Book Sales

She may have never held national executive office, but when it comes to book sales, Sarah Palin can hang with the presidents. In its first week of sales, Going Rogue sold 469,000 copies which is more than any memoir by current or past president or presidential contender, save Bill Clinton. Clinton’s My Life sold 606,000 copies in 2004; Hillary Clinton’s Living History sold 440,000 copies in 2003. Palin’s memoir also beat out new books by James Patterson and Stephen King in sales.

Good to know the far right has the money to spend on expensive hardback books and give to the church so they can interfere with health care. Rolling in dough I would say.

You Betcha!

The same pack of thieves, and their cousins, who have been robbing the public coffers for the past 8 years during the previous repthugnuts administration......

Hey Sarah deserves a big applaud, along with Beck and Rush for being "conservatives" in the extreme......making how much money for spewing lies and hatred, and passing it off onto the unsuspecting lower end of the middle class. Yea, Sarah, Rush and Glenn laugh their way all the way to the bank every day as they think of the buffoons they dooped! And the Palin, Rush and Glenn "Puppetmasters" thank you too....

Here is a suggestion. All you "conservatives" can send your Christmas list to Sarah, Glenn and Rush, afterall they can afford to send you something to your loyalty and stupidity!

cb-You are complaining about the money they are spending on themselves with THEIR OWN money, buying books instead of paying for YOUR HEALTH CARE with their money.
If you could only see how jealous and Socialistic that sounds, you should be ashamed of yourself, but of course you won't be...

Last time I looked this was a free country, not a Socialist country and people can do what they want with their own money, when did this country become a place where people like you feel you are entitled to anyone else's hard working pay checks?

diamondgirl, what you don't get is that the far right fundamentalist Christian-types that make up Palin's base like to stick their noses in other peoples' business and tell them what to do. This could be described as fascist. Meanwhile, they decry the government interfering in their affairs. Let me give you an example. The far right is largely against abortion. They make a big stink, even go so far as to kill doctors who perform abortions. They want to overturn Roe v Wade, which would entail the government interfering with a woman's right regarding her own body. It's a contradiction in thought. Meanwhile, why do you call everyone who disagrees with you a Socialist? Is that your catch-all word for anything you don't believe in?

|
2:56 pm, Nov 25, 2009

diamondgirl

John, I don't call everyone who disagrees with me a Socialist, I am calling Obama a Socialist. He wants to spread the wealth around, take from the rich and give to the poor. We have done enough of that it's not working.
What needs to be done with those who are not disabled and can work, is train them, re train them educate them.. Stop enabling them, its making it worse for them, and its bringing down this Country.

As for abortions, the majority of Americans now are against Abortions, you may not like this but you can't change it. I being one of them believe it is killing a baby, if there wasn't a baby in the uterus there would be anything to abort.

These Tea Party people are not telling you what to do they are telling the Government how they feel, they don't believe that the Government is listening to them.

It's called free speech; they are exercising their rights as Americans.

|
3:31 pm, Nov 25, 2009

johnsmith1882

diamondgirl, you called me a socialist just the other day. I forget the thread, but you seem to throw that word around quite a bit. President Obama is not a socialist. He bailed out the banks and the auto industry. Do you think that he wanted to do that, it was his plan all along? Enter office with the economy in crisis so that he could bail out trillion-dollar industries? Think about it, he began running for office in 2007, well before the economy tanked. Bush threw money at the crisis before he left office, is he a socialist too?
And the majority of Americans aren't pro-life, it's a 50-50 split. No need to get into an abortion debate, one side never convinces the other, and vice-versa. What you may not know is that Roe v Wade entails more than just abortion, it covers your right to privacy in the bedroom. Currently, the federal government cannot snoop into your sex life, to see what kind of kinky shit you like to do. Because of the protection Roe v Wade provides. I personally don't want the government to be able to peek into my bedroom, not because I'm that kinky, but because I enjoy my right to privacy.
I'm all for the freedom of speech, of course the tea-partiers have the right of assembly. However, the freedom of speech only extends to when it starts interfering in other people's rights. Tea-baggers screaming at others at town hall assemblies have infringed on the other's freedom of speech. They have overstepped the bounds of the First Amendment, and are no longer protected.

Yes, I know the book has only been out one week, and look at all that money she has taken from those people who look as though they cannot afford it. But Sarah Palin not only takes their money, but collects from the socialist pile of money that the state of AK gives to each man, woman and child each year in profits from the resources owned by the socialist state of ALASKA. And you want to call others commies, at least figure out what you are talking about, shortcourse HAHAHAHA

I'll tell ya cry, Sarah's crowd has money (they think) to burn on her book. As I surveyed the crowd they did not appear to have money to burn. I agree it is a conundrum. However your crowd appears quite content, and hasn't ambition that can match hers, so she laughs all the way to the bank. It believe it is called being hoodwinked.

Do you think there is a possibility that these people either have jobs or just think the book is worth the treat in these hard times. Who really knows what promts them to spend money, either way it is their money to spend.

In America it seems that people are judging each other, when in reality we dont really know how the other one is feeling. It seems you may not have a whole lot of money these days and are very upset with people like me who complain against that.
If that's the case I am sorry and if I could do anything for you I would. I am frustrated too, my job is very slow, so is my husbands, but we keep on trying, but Obama is not Stimulating the economy with his Stimulus bill, and that's going to hurt this country just as much as the last Administration did.
They need to help people by re-training, re-educating, people for jobs in the private sector that are still working, and creating more manufacturing in this Country. Where in that bill did he do that? There is plenty of money left from that bill, why can't they use that to give small businesses some tax breaks? Or retrain those who are interested? The taxes on all of this is mind boggling and killing us, he does know what he is doing but he doesn't share a conservatives view of the word, he is a Socialist and that's how it's done. Two entirely different views on life, we will have to wait until the tide changes to hopefully get back on the right tract.

That would help anyone who is willing to try. That's why I am upset with Congress and Obama.

Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving

There is NO such thing as "bad publicity" when it comes to selling stuff. Palin benefited from EVERY single article that was written about her book and every media coverage. That is why she herself went on the "liberal media" tour to promote her book. Let's call a spade, a spade. Palin uses the media to sell herself, the media use her to get readers and audiences.

For someone with such disdain for the media, she works it really well. I would never buy her book, but she has every right to sell it and make money.

It's also good to see her choice the entertainment path, rather than political. Anyone that thinks she will run for office is delusional - she would need silly things like facts and knowledge. She has freedom to say whatever she wants now. Why would she ever give that up?

the big bookstore in the mall near my home was a shrine to Obama. I called to pre order 5 copies of Sarah's book. The guy growled he wasn't getting that book in. A few days later it was announced they were closing! they are now, out of business! OUCH! Go Sarah!!

You just correlated three things that had nothing to do with each other:
1) The bookstore near your home was a shrine to Obama (which I'm sure it wasn't, it is just that you abhor Obama).
2) You attempted to pre-order Palin's book (many bookstores are not carrying copies or are carrying less than 10).
3) Somehow because they did not order Palin's book her magical juju (perhaps because of the blessing of her witchdoctor, http://tinyurl.com/4dh5ld ) the store shut down.
You must be the at the top of your 3rd grade class at connect the dots.

I am shocked, shocked that she sold so many books. I don't understand how having EVERY news channel, newspaper, newsmagazine, and internet website advertising for this woman's book could have led up to record sales.

Just like I don't understand how the same thing could have happened for the Twilight: New Moon movie! Are they trying to say that hype and media OVER-EXPOSURE leads to sales?? Shocking.
