Palin’s Caroline Dig

HP Main - Palin Kennedy
AP Photos

The election may be over, but Sarah Palin is still unloading on the press. Palin told a documentary filmmaker that she think the media is going easier on Caroline Kennedy than it did on her and that class played its part in her rough reception at the hands of reporters. “It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out and I think that as we watch that we will perhaps be able to prove that there is a class issue here also that was such a factor in the scrutiny of my candidacy versus, say, the scrutiny of what her candidacy may be,” she said, barely taking a breath but noticeably failing to say “You know” even once. Palin also complained that Tina Fey and Katie Couric have been “capitalizing on” and “exploiting” her. You betcha!

Maybe the media was rougher on Palin because she's a dumb ass who might have been second in line for the Presidency. You think?

Typical... I always felt that Palin was just trailer trash - now she shows it. The poor always blame those with advantages for their misfortune!

Once I was watching Fox News and they said "Sarah Palin has some complaints about the media's recent treatment of her" and this was long past the time when she was in the news. I said Yeah, they're not talking about her anymore! Now she has some more "comments". I've never seen a more media-hungry politician.

If anyone had a doubt about the fitness of Sarah Palin to be VP, she has shown she in unfit by these comments. The person to blame for the disasterous Couric interview is Sarah herself. The questions were reasonable, but the answers showed her weakness. As for Caroline Kennedy, she is being appointed to the Senate, not running for election as VP. If Sarah doesn't understand this distinction, she once again displays her lack of understanding. Alaska you can do better!

How typically Republican and politician. Of course there's nothing wrong with her, it's all those other people, especially that evil liberal press! Not only is she trailer trash, she's seriously stupid trailer trash.

The angry and ugly left, now in the process of being betrayed by The One, will have to find its consolations in continuing to war on Palin. The "trailer trash" meme will be used until it's worn out and a new form of gutter abuse found. I was and am impervious to her attractions, but I might find myself warming. Oddly, you don't find the right hammering away at another governor I could name -- happens to be a Democrat -- for being a blind, black, drug-usin', womanizin' tax-raiser.

No one attacked Palin until she opened her mouth and began first to spew lies and was exposed, then she began her campaign of hatred from middle America against all America who would dare question the status quo in this country and she was again exposed for the shill she is. Yes, the voters of America sent her a resounding NO. And the demagogue went back to Alaska.

I don't see the Caroline Kennedy has been treated with kid gloves. Sure, at first there was an initial oohing and ahhing to the idea, but since then Kennedy has not had an easy road.

Why there is some interest in different treatment based on class, I'm not sure it applies here.

Has she forgotten the free ride she got at her debates with Joe Biden?
Can't go too hard on her because that would look sexist. The bar was put so low that her debates were considered successful only because she didn't make any huge blunders.
I guess she's forgotten about that.
And Banjo1? You are so deluded. I find your comment to
be pathetic. It's only people like you who refer to Obama as "The One".
We don't. But I've got to say that it is a good feeling to finally have, after 8 years, someone with a brain and compassion in the office.

Palin has been the butt of jokes for months. Let her have her say. On Olbermann last night I learned that Caroline is the victim of some kind of verbal tic. The you knows are not her fault. Palin should be so lucky.

Sarah Palin has no one to blame but herself as regards the Katie Couric interview, she was asked simple questions and could not answer directly...how is that Katie Couric's fault?
Tina Fey skit was absolutely spot on, that is exactly how Sarah Palin was and if she came across as dumb, then that is Sarah Palin's fault...she was just being portrayed exactly as she was.
I don't think she can equate Caroline Kennedy to her either, lets face Sarah Palin has had more"air" time and has made more speeches in her career. Caroline works really behind the scenes and is new to all this, so Sarah is still suffering from sour grapes all round I think and it's about time she got over it.

Caroline Kennedy is asking the Governor of NY to consider appointing her to fill an open Senate seat.

Sarah Palin was asking the country to place her a heartbeat away from the most powerful elected office on the planet.

The media gave a free pass to Obama too.
After they helped Bush spread lies about his war and promoted the false idea that we need over $700 billiion in corporate welfare.
The American media.....fourth branch of the US government specializing in lies and propaganda.

Poor Palin,padding her resume
defenseless waif is closing that barn door well after the moose have left
Palin in a sixty year old body, a frumpy suit, with no makeup or hair enhancement and what have you got? A Wasilla mayor
Caroline K wrote a book for children about civil rights. Sarah could put that on her short list next time Couric asks about her
recent reading repertoire
Back to Alaska, where someone appreciates you Sarah

When Palin first came on the scene, I wanted to like her. I really did. Her story is compelling. But the more I got to know her, the speeches, interviews, the more I read Anchorage papers online, and talked to Alaskans I know, the more I came to believe that there was no way-no how she was ready, in disposition or mental fortitude, to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. To compare the scrutiny of the second highest executive position to that of an individual aspiring to be one of a group of 100 senators doesn't add up.

To put it in collequial terms, Hey Sarah, we don't need to know everything about Caroline, we've got 99 other senators to keep an eye on her. Plus, we know her, we've been catching glimpses of her for her entire life. We know where she comes from and know that she doesn't have to do this. We may not know everything about her but we have a sense of Caroline as a person.
Sarah, when you showed up on our screens, we didn't know you, we didn't know your family, your environs or what makes you tick. We wanted to know more so anything out there, about you, your family, your work became part of the dialogue.

So, you bet, we wanted to know more about you. It wasn't unfair, we didn't mean to be cruel, it was just that we wanted to know everything about you so that we could make our choice on election day.

I don't think you can now claim Katie Couric and Tina Fey are capitalizing and exploiting you when you went on Couric's interview to get exposure and you were raising the roof on SNL three days before the election.

In her wildest dreams Sarah Palin cannot expect to be treated on the same plain as Caroline Kennedy who is a person with class, education, insight and has a family history of service to our Country.

Why is it that on one seems to take responsibility for their own behavior? Ms. Palin was definitely not ready for prime time.

What I Want to Know is why more people arn't talking about her arsonist son The Wasilla arsonist. Or the fact that Bristols boyfriends mom is one of the biggest busts this year in anchorage. People even say that trig is Bristols first crystal amphetamine baby hence the disability.

The only "class issue" at play is that Palin has absolutely none.

I have no special affection for Sarah Palin, though, as an elected official in her state she surely reflected the feelings of the majority of her constituency. Democrat royalists who seem determined to restore the Kennedy hegemony, for no other reason than they are supine celebrity worshippers, found her "style" or lack thereof, distasteful. Caroline, on the other hand, the progeny of an inveterate womanizer and drug abuser whose storied (literally) thousand days accomplished what fashion addicted New Yorkers (and Italians) are most fond of: cutting a "bella figura," i.e. they looked good, were photogenic and had "taste." The rest is assiduously documented myth. Caroline is by any measure, a Princess of the realm, New Yorkers deserve her. Sarah Palin tells the truth they don't want to hear. In an accent they don't like.

Maybe it's true . . . I don't know. But Palin was running for Vice President of the USA with a 70 year-old running mate. Palin could have been presdient and played a big role on all American's lives. Kennedy is going for a high-profile, important role but it's not comparing apples to apples.

There is a difference between VP and the Senate. There is also a difference between Palin and Kennedy. Kennedy is significantly more qualified to be a Senator than Palin was to become VP.

Unfortunately, Palin simply fails to see that the challenges to her being VP were justified and is obviously ignoring (or simply can't understand) those who are questioning Kennedy's qualifications.
