Palin's July 4 Facebook Note

She's made herself scarce since her resignation announcement on Friday, but Sarah Palin took briefly to her Facebook account to pen a missive about the "higher calling" taking her away from the Alaska governor's seat. Under the subject line "Happy 4th of July from Alaska!" Palin took "a moment to reflect on the last 24 hours." The 460-word note referred to Palin's decision to step down as one "my family and I" decided because "we have accomplished more during this one term than most governors do in two." As for whether the resignation was planned: "For months now, I have consulted with friends and family, and with the Lieutenant Governor, about what is best for our wonderful state. I even made a few administration changes over that course in time in preparation for yesterday." She took another few digs at the "main stream media" for being "most predictable, ironic, and as always, detached from the lives of ordinary Americans," and "sad" for "never understand[ing]." Will Palin stay in politics? Unclear from the note, but she certainly doesn't plan on leaving the public eye, or her followers' field of view: "I look forward to making a difference - with you!" Then, with a sign of her name, Sarah was over and out.

So, if she had made it to Washington for a 4 year term, would she have resigned after 2-1/2 years there, too, because she would --think-- she'd done twice as much as any other VP?

Give me a break.

The pitbull has turned into a shitzu.

I am still so confused in regard to her recent SarahPac infomercial stating "why we need sarah now" which was pulled within two hours on Thursday. This was replaced by independence day sarah, an edited version which had a bizarre ending. Strange.

This woman is ridiculous. The fools that support her are equally ridiculous. We don't need to see anything more on the subject. What a joke.

You think that by picking this unknown, undereducated torturess of the english language, it's grammar and syntax as his vice presidential candidate that John McCain ruined her life?? How about Ms Palin finished any chance that John McCain had of getting elected. OK lets get all the repug tools into one Fox news studio and they can rewrite history.

Here's hoping she and her clone, Carrie Prejean, hit the road in skin tight outfits and carrying oversized Bibles. They may save us yet, America!

Such is the nature of delusion!
She really doesn't get why anyone could possibly criticize her decision to resign the governorship with a year and a half left!

Seriously, ya'll have to follow the link to her facebook page and count the things that don't make a lick of sense!

It's incredible. Her defenders say we should excuse her for the language she uses when she speaks off the cuff. Okay, I can live with that. Some of us aren't at our best in these situations.

However, this Facebook statement is laughable. It reads exactly the way she speaks. She had time to sit down and think this though. She could have had someone proof it for her. Hell, she even had time to let someone else write it for her.

The speech was not stream of consciousness. Palin wrote it herself and posted it word for word on her website. She read the speech into a teleprompter. Greta's show posted enough video that it included pan back shots showing the teleprompter Palin read into, with a camera on either side of the prompter. Paul Begala's take at HuffPo on her posted text is priceless, with all of its various ALL CAPS and exclamation points and odd punctuation. The rambling syntax was planned!

That is a good point: What will Greta do now? Will she have to cancel the show for lack of a Palin?

Maybe she saw Speide quit and rejoin Celebrity in the jungle and thought it was a good idea. We'll have to wait and see if she tries to get her job back?

The best part of this story is that chris, I mean Sean Parnell will take over, if that is not an SNL skit I don't know what is and also there has to be a movie made about this woman.

If she threatens anymore libel suits, her attorney should inform her about SLAPP suits -- strategic litigation against public participation.
They're illegal in half the states, and are the bedrock of the First Amendment right to criticize public officials without fear of retribution.
She wouldn't even get a court date.

How is it possible that Mrs. Palin is described as "plain speaking" when she can't cobble together a decent sentence and speaks in riddles? I suppose that "plain" is code for rambling on, generally sounding uneducated, and not possessing much of a vocabulary. Silly me for thinking that plain speaking would perhaps intimate something different, like, say, direct, smart, honest, tough, and fearless. Or, maybe, just maybe "plain" is actually a misspelling of "palin" which actually makes perfect sense! It's still such a shock to the system to think that this person is even known about, outside of some freaky "reality" show, much less part of the political landscape and shame on Senator John McCain for subjecting us all to this mess.

I find it incredible that some of her supporters insist that Palin is not a quitter. If it looks, talks, and acts like a duck, it is not a swan.

Palin was elected Governor of Alaska during a period of prosperity due to the overinflated prices on crude oil, and she rode the coattails of good fortune as her constituency profited while the lower 48 suffered at the gas pump.

Well, times have changed, oil prices (and hence state revenues) are down, and the same constituency and legislature that had applauded her folksy style have been scrutinizing her management style more carefully.

Bottom line, when the going gets tough, Sarah throws in the towel.

This is the same woman who couldn't decide on a college to stick with! The criticism coming her way is NOT because she is a female, nor even because she is a republican, this PERSON has not the work ethic, integrity, demeanor, thick skin, character nor intelligence to lead the free world! She should NOT hold public office. If she wants to write books, fine, kids can always use coloring books.

Exactly.

I'm just hoping Palin picks my crazy District 6 congresswoman, Michelle Bachmann, as her running mate. Those two are cut from exactly the same piece of cloth. And both used their hot soccer mom good looks to get into office and advance their careers. And, hey! God told Michelle to get a law degree and become a congresswoman, so Michelle could probably brush up Sarah's knowledge of constitutional law while they are both deciding whether or not dinosaurs wore saddles.

Glad to be of service. :) Keep an eye on the 2010 Congressional race in MN. By now, everyone in District 6 who isn't on a respirator should know that Michelle Bachmann only plays a Congresswoman on TV. In reality, she is a hardcore Evangelical who believes that anyone who doesn't agree with her is Satan's mouthpiece. MN isn't a hardcore Christian fundamentalist area. Lots of people in 6 believe in the 21st Century, I daresay most of them. However, if Michelle gets re-elected...Again...it will be a very scary indicator of Palin's actual chances in 2012. They both remind me of that Reese Witherspoon character in the movie Election. Dumb movie, but Witherspoon's character has creepy similarities to these two.

Syntax and grammar or not, this kind of surprise move shows just the kind of imagination that will keep our attention. I "couldn't believe" that Reagan got into office, nor would I even dream that Bush 43 could even get to be dogcatcher. The rule seems to be, "think of the worst conceivable candidate and the next thing you know, there they are." Losers and quitters? Think again.

From Sarah: "How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it's about country," the statement said. "And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make."

WE know by now? Would that be the royal "we?" I know no such thing. While we're at it, way to call Washington and the media anti-American. And just WHEN is it honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term? WHO are these countless others? Were they called to God, or what?

Sheesh, this lady is crazy.

You beat me to it! As I read her latest statements, the image of Eva Peron kept coming to mind. I kept waiting for her to appear on camera, hair bun in place, arms raised and break out singing: "Don't cry for me Aaa-laa-sk-aaa. She is sooo channeling Eva Peron!

This woman is seriously out of touch with reality. For her sake, I hope it's only propanganda for her fans and not a jump into psychosis!

Shucks...snif...am gonna miss (a little).. the sheer comedy of it all.

Too bad a Governor's job entails working on serious matters like budgets and such and all. All that crap just gets in the way of the merriment and buzz of the life of a precocious blabbermouth with not a lot to say....

I love how the very same people who accuse Obama's supporters of blind, unconditional adoration are currently all over the interwebs defending Palin's demented antics.

Sheesh. Pass the popcorn. This stuff is gold.
