Queen Wants Adam Lambert

American Idol runner up Adam Lambert's flamboyant rock style may not have been enough to garner top honors in the contest, but it has caught the attention of one of Lambert's favorite bands. According to Rolling Stone, Queen is considering making Lambert, whom they played with for an episode of Idol, their new frontman.  "Amongst all that furor, there wasn't really a quiet moment to talk," Queen guitarist Brian May told Rolling Stone in an interview. "But [he] and I are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with at some point. It's not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn't that easy. But I'd certainly like to work with Adam."

It might be the place to start. Everything Lambert did on AI was fun to watch. He's musical, he commands the stage, he's charming, he's got an amazing vocal instrument. I've read assessments in the NYT and Gene Simmons' comment in Rolling Stone. Can't agree w/ Friday's Times reviewer that he has no depth. For God's sake, get him out there doing original material, away from the AI juggernaut, and let him find his way. Hope he puts that voice to good use and takes his advice from serious musicians. When I think of all the rock voices that have gone to waste -- Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks -- for choosing lame material.

Now, now, Charles, you may be an old queen yourself someday. I think Adam is a natural replacement for Freddie Mercury.

Stevie Nicks had one of the worst voices to ever attempt singing for a living.

Maybe it doesn't have a lot of range or subtlety. But I find her voice haunting. Hate most of her songs.

@nor

My wife and I CRACKED up when South Park showed a goat making noises and everyone thought it was Stevie Nicks. We had always said her voice sounded a bit farm-animalish.

From what I've heard Adam say in interviews, he will do his own thing and record, not join Queen or any other band.

Queen has been around for a long time and they know their stuff. Who cares what AI does or says. He got his talent out there and someone wants it. That is all it's about.

It still isn't Queen, it'll never be Queen.

Whew! For a minute there I thought Elizabeth Regina has the hots for Sir Glambert. Now, that would have been news.

Aside from great rock musicianship from the band, I don't think they can replace Mr. Mercury who was the king of Queen. Might as well try to replace Lennon & Harrison of the Beatles.
