Rapper Murdered in L.A.

Roderick Anthony Burton II, otherwise known as the rapper Dolla, was murdered yesterday at the Beverly Center shopping mall in Los Angeles. The Atlanta-based rapper was standing near the mall’s valet parking area when he was shot in the head. The suspect then fled in a silver Merecedes SUV, and a 20-year-old “person of interest” was apprehended about an hour later at LAX. Police have not yet announced a motive. Considered up-and-coming, Dolla’s first album was scheduled for release this summer. His first single, “Who the … Is That?”, was released in 2007.

What a sad pandering by the media. Someone got murdered in LA but since the vic is a rapper and it was in 90210 land, it's newsworthy? Not.

Why exactly isn't it newsworthy?

Because it was an African American man that got killed?

Your racism is showing!

No one mentioned skin color. You did. And why do you think he's African-American anyway? All Blacks in America are from Africa? What about those Americans with black skin who are from Puerto Rico? What about those from England? It's truly distrubing to see someone shouting, "racism" whilst exhibiting truly racist thinking in this day and age. Please stop demeaning people based on their skin color.

Speak is right! Since when do murders and thugs have a certain color? Now that you mention it though it was probably just another black gang related incident and status quo, right? If you want to push stereotypes and race on everyone just let us know?

I'm a young African American living in Los Angeles. I visit the Beverly Center often, this is newsworthy to me.

Thanks.

I hope because of the danger there rather than the race!

A rapper involved in violence you say? I don't believe it. Where the hell is Tipper Gore when you need her? But seriously, perhaps Sharpton or Jackson will go to Beverly Hills and somehow blame the shooting on White folks.

The person of interest, is that the same as a suspect?
No gain for Sharpton and Jackson so... why go?

first of all color dosent matter someone was killed.. and you people are showin ur ignorance. people need to know whats going on in the world around then.. even if that world is in beverly.. sense when is someones life not worth your time? what makes u so special... if it was your family it would be different.. and as a white woman with a mixed son i am ashamed of "my" color for the responses to these deaths.. id rather be accompanied by "thugs" that give a damn.. then by "racist ass people" that dont care about themselves or others.. these are still people that have families.. you should be ashamed... im only 23 and have a better sense of life and people.. than yall do..
