Riots Kill 140 in China

Not all state violence originates in Iran: Associated Press reports that 140 people were killed, over 800 injured, and hundreds more arrested in China’s far west Xinjiang region on Sunday. The violence started as a peaceful Sunday protest by 1,000 to 3,000 Uighurs—ethnic Muslims—but there’s little indication of how things spiraled out of control. The protest was organized in response to the death of two Uighur factory workers during a fight with Han Chinese coworkers last month.

what causes these fights with the Uighurs?

lack of access to wealth enforced by pro-Han (essentially racist) policies. The Han get shipped out from the East coast to colonize Western China & Tibet and displace the indigenous peoples and then share in the prosperity while denying it to the indigenous Uighurs, Tibetans, etc..
I reckon the Uighurs were attacked by mobs of ethnic Han, brownshirt style.

China continues their policy of making their borders Han by invading the area and hoping for mixed marriages. In the case of this religion limiting the possibilities of marriage violence and relocation have been used. No different from their approach to the Tibetans and Mongols.

The Uighurs speak a language like Mongolian or Turkish, not a Sino-Tibetan language.
It's hard to be a good citizen when the laws are written in a very alien language.

Why isn't John McCain pounding some table over this? He's an anti-Russian Georgian who gets upset at Iran over human rights issues, I guess these people don't matter.

Russia at one time had more troops stationed at the chinese border than we have in our entire army.
Be interesting to see how China is gearing up for the Putin regime.
