RNC Chides "Magic Negro" Song

Yesterday Democrats raised a stink when Chip Saltsman, a candidate to be the new RNC chair, distributed a CD with a song called "Barack the Magic Negro." Today, Republicans are joining in. Current RNC chair Mike Duncan issued a statement today distancing party leadership from Saltsman. The full statement read: "The 2008 election was a wake-up call for Republicans to reach out and bring more people into our party. I am shocked and appalled that anyone would think this is appropriate as it clearly does not move us in the right direction." The song, which first appeared on Rush Limbaugh's radio show, was written by conservative satirist Paul Shanklin, who also wrote the other 40 tracks on the parody album We Hate the USA. Duncan is vying for reelection to head the RNC and Saltsman, Mike Huckabee's former campaign manager and on the GOP's best known operatives, was considered a strong opponent.

This song is stupid, and embarassing. Why would anyone think this is funny or a parody? It's a shame that the Right is so out of touch. Keep this up and you'll need to find a new country. There is no place for this type of bullshit here.

The song is disgusting, but more disgusting is that anyone would sing it, air it, or send it to anyone assuming that other people would find it amusing or funny or even OK. Chip Saltsman is obviously a racist and assumes every one else is also, apparently. I want to hear from Mike Huckabee on this. Did he knowlingly hire a racist as his campaign manager? This really changes my opinion of Huckabee.

Huckabee's a moron and always has been. Anyone from Arkansas, except for Ditto-heads, can tell you that. I tried to clue the media in when he was running for President. Even sent a note to Mitt Romney whom he chastised quite a bit. Never heard a negative word about the guy. Anyone can find plenty of evidence of Mike Huckabee's idiocy by going to the Arkansas Times website, arktimes.com, and digging through the archives, especially articles by Max Brantley.

I couldn't believe the free ride the Huckster got by the media during the race. He's a total clown.

rush is like in permanent preemptive damage control for the insensitivity that extremists on both sides demand:

"The song, which first appeared on Rush Limbaugh's radio show...."

How loathsome. How predictable.

LordVader:

More from the "magical" Wikipedia: The magical negro is typically but not always "in some way outwardly or inwardly disabled, either by discrimination, disability or social constraint," often a janitor or prisoner. He has no past; he simply appears one day to help the white protagonist. He sometimes fits the black stereotype, "prone to criminality and laziness." To counterbalance this, he has some sort of magical power, "rather vaguely defined but not the sort of thing one typically encounters." He is patient and wise, often dispensing various words of wisdom, and is "closer to the earth."

C'mon, it's a black stereotype (Uncle Tom). The term "negro" should tip most people off. And to make matters worse, you've got me quoting Wikipedia.
