RNC Insurance Plan Covers Abortion

What up with this, Michael Steele? Politico is reporting that the insurance plan that the Republican National Committee offers its employees covers abortions, which the GOP platform calls “a fundamental assault on innocent human life.”  In all, 176 House Republicans voted last week with 64 Democrats for the Stupak amendment to the health-care bill, which would prohibit federal funds from being used by individuals to purchase plans that cover abortions. According to an RNC spokeswoman, “The current policy has been in effect since 1991, and we are taking steps to address the issue.”

Pelosi and the dems pass a healthcare bill that bans abortion, and the republicans offer a bill that covers abortion.

The political landscape is changing quickly in DC.

And Plant...

The GOP didn't offer a plan that covers abortion. The RNC workers use a plan that does.

It's called hypocrisy, Plant. Look it up.

These guys were so busy playing pinata with the Democratic plan, they didn't spend any time on evaluating their own plan used by the RNC. They spent about the same amout of time perfecting their own plan. Pretty pathetic.

Did Steele have a stroke? Well, the repubs will never, ever get a healthcare bill to pass but now at least the Dems can include insurance that covers abortion. This is great news. Thank you Repubs.

That's right prickly,

like with all things the G.O.P. are hypocrites on abortion too. Ditto with pre-marital sex, adultery, drugs, lying etc. I'm sure the protect the medical charts of their wives and mistresses very well or send them to Europe for a quick "vacation" to cover up their tracks.

Holy crap. Do these people have any values whatsoever? Is ANYTHING they say legitimate?

While I am a staunch Liberal, I would welcome a Republican party that actually has ideas and agendas to help the American people and facts and beliefs to back them up.

Can you imagine if both parties of our two party system were working to produce the best legislation for the betterment of the people based on their actual beliefs rather than knee - jerking against any type of progress? We might have a chance to truly improve this country and make it the strongest in the world domestically and on a global scale.

Republican Voters: These are your leaders. They are supposed to fighting for you and your ideals. Is this why you put them in office? So they can stand on their one tenant of Capitalism, which has resulted in massive economic collapses, a health care system that results in 45,000 dead a year, and the top 1% owning more wealth than the bottom 95% combined including you? So they can tell you "we can have this, but you can't"? So they can lie to you? Cheat, and steal from you?

Honestly, doesn't this make you upset? Don't you feel betrayed? Do you really feel represented?

These people are not on your side. They're not fighting for your freedoms. In fact they work very hard to make sure you have fewer freedoms. (Abortions, public option, Iraq, etc.) They are on their own side and on the side of big money business. They've proven it over and over and over and over and over...

So does this mean that if members of the DNC have health insurance that covers child birth, that makes them pro-life?
You just can't trust these elected officials anymore.......

When you make a statement like this Carole, since you always lecture others, where is your proof that your statement is correct? Or do you just like your position as an oppositional defiant person who has that disorder? It is so childish of you to rely on others to look up information you should provide.

Guess what Carole, Pro-choice covers BOTH keeping the pregnancy and terminating the pregnancy. Pro-choice includes being a pro-birth (a.k.a. pro-life) person.

But as usual when caught in hypocrisy you try to change the subject and attack liberals. Nice try. You guys are still hypocrites on ALL issues.

I'm sorry, but is the plan that the RNC provides its employees subsidized by federal tax dollars? Because that's what the Stupak Amendment dealt with.

Learn the difference between private and public before you start screaming hypocrisy, dimwits.

The Stupak amendment applies also to PRIVATE INSURANCE plans so it is EXACTLY the same thing as the G.O.P. plan. Additionally since companies get a tax-break for offering private insurance, tax-payer dollars DO cover abortions. The Stupak amendment is simply STUPID!

It applies to private insurance plans that receive subsidies from the government. Again, I ask if the RNC plan receives those subsidies. If not, it's not hypocrisy, and everyone screaming that it is are morons.

Figures. Well perhaps they should have taken "steps to address the issue" before they started grandstanding about the health-care bill that wouldn't have funded abortions to begin with.

Clean up your own backyard, then you can talk about mine.
