Sammy Sosa: Skin Cream Made Me White

So it wasn’t an appointment with Arnie Klein? Sammy Sosa has spoken up to explain recent photos of him where his skin is so light that some thought he was suffering vitiligo. "I use a cream to keep my skin smooth and soft. I apply it before I go to bed. When I was playing for Chicago all those years, I was in the sun a lot for 1 o'clock games," Sosa told an interviewer. "The flashes (from the cameras) also made my skin look lighter. I'm surprised with the controversy this has caused." Asked if he was trying to be like Michael Jackson, Sosa said: "Not at all, I respect him very much. I'm not a racist. I'm not like that. I'm just a happy person."

Blacks putting on "white face" is and should be as offensive as whites putting on "black face."
Maybe if Sammy sees how awful he looks in these pictures, he'll go back to his natural self?

What Sammy Sosa is doing is the oldest story in the book! A person of African decent who has internalized white is better! In country's with people of a darker hue skin lightening creams are huge business! Even in Africa where millions have nothing or barely enough to eat, hundreds of millions of dollars are spent on skin lightening creams! Its huge business on the Indian subcontinent as well! Sammy's explanation is as pathetic as his steroid one was! I feel sorry for him! Not being comfortable in your own skin is bad way to be!

ugh! I don't understand what all the commotion is about? It's so racist to read these comments, really. So white people can go out and buy "bronzers" and burn their bodies like crazy in tanning salons and beaches (which is both stupid and harmful - it's stupid to look red like a lobster and harmful to hurt your skin that way. Like, cancerous?), so they could look dark, yet no one calls them out or critiques them. Yet when someone darker wants to have nice smooth skin, and wants to feel happier, they are critisized. Whatever. I have light skin and would love to look even whiter. Asians do it all the time and people now think their skins is naturally smooth, and not yellow. Whatever. it's a fad, and to each his own, really. So stop being racist and let awesome latino be! (he is also a great philathropist in our country)
