Security Council Demands Cease-Fire
Late last night the UN Security Council voted 14-0 on a resolution demanding that Israel and Hamas cease firing in Gaza. America abstained. Libya promoted the Arab League's draft resolution in the Council. America argued it didn't do enough to address Israel's concerns about Hamas rearming and resuming rocket attacks on Israeli citizens. The resolution "stresses the urgency of and calls for an immediate, durable and fully respected cease-fire, leading to the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza" while calling for member states to “prevent illicit trafficking in arms and ammunition.” Condi Rice said America supported the resolution in principle but didn’t want the Egyptian-French talks in Cairo to be jeopardized. Israeli premier Olmert will arrive in Cairo today and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday. Palestinian officials say 758 Palestinians, including 257 children and 56 women, have died in the attacks. Israel says 390 were Hamas fighters.

Enough of this concern for Hamas resuming and rearming against Israel....where is the concern for the Palestinian people in all this!!!
Is the blood of the people of Palestine a different colour or are their death's so un important that we just have to follow blindly along with Israel no matter what?
When in God's name are we going to get some guts and stick up for what is right and stop this on going backing of Israel at all costs...the world is watching and it does not like what it is seeing here and we wonder why we are not exactly welcomed by open arms around the world!!!!!!!!!!!

The only ones who need pressure put on them here is Israel, they have run rampant and been given total backing by the US...that needs to stop!!!
If you don't tow the line with any Israeli sympathizer you are automatically an "anti-Semite", such a stupid argument we can disagree with the Governments actions and I do but to say we are "all" anti-Semite's" is pathetic!!!

Perhaps America and much of the world needs a refresher course on the history of "Palestine." British rule over the area put forth a division of land with what is now Jordan to the East of the river Jordan and the area that is now Israel and the West Bank to the West of the Jordan. Jordan is Arab and the Jewish people in Palestine have not been afforded a state except by their own defenses - which they have battled for and won not one day after they declared themselves a state. I think the world and Americans need to face up to the fact that Israeli's (and the Jewish people of Palestine in the 1920's) have not been given what was intended to be their land West of the Jordan river. Instead the surrounding Arab states have used the Arabs in Palestine as a pawn while at the same time rejecting them by refusing immigration to Arab countries. None of the surrounding Arab or Islamic countries want the "Palestinians" to immigrate to their countries. Israel and Jewish peoples of Palestine have instead been subjected to a refusal by the surrounding Arabs and the Arabs and Islamic factions in their midst to establish themselves a legitimate and peaceful existence as was given for the Arabs in Jordan. The fact of the matter is that Arabs and Islamic groups refuse to legitimize Israel or any Jewish state. There is no peaceful co-existence. Thus, the British division of Palestine was given to provide a place for each to live apart. If the Arabs of Palestine and the Arabs of Jordan and the surrounding countries will not accept the Arabs living in Israel then the problem is an Arab problem and not a problem with Israel.
Further, no other peoples or country are subjected to as much as Israel in how they defend themselves as a nation and a people. The Jews have been subjected to more discrimination and genocide than any people group in modern history if not all of history. If the world at large and the Arab world cannot allow Israel and a Jewish peoples to seek self determination in peace without being subject to majority rule of another ethnic, religious or political group then I as an American have not problem supporting Israel for their defense against anything that threatens their right to live in peace and self-determination. Unfortunately Arabs and the "Palestinians" do not recognize Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state with a right to self govern as a Jewish peoples. Without this right to self govern Jewish peoples will be subject to the same discrimination and genocide that they historically been subject to and suffered terribly as a peoples. Arabs can solve the Palestinian problem but they don't want to because it means they would need to recognize Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state. This they will not accept.
Thank you.
