Source of NYC Syrup Smell Found
Mystery solved! The strange maple syrup smell that wafted around parts of New York City over half a dozen times since 2005 has been traced back to "fragrance and food additive factories in Bergen and Hudson Counties in New Jersey," Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced this morning. More precisely, the source is fenugreek seeds used in the food processing. "I never smelled it but for the record I do like maple-sugar syrup on my French toast," Bloomberg joked.
