Super Ants Colonize Globe
Much of the blogosphere is focusing its anxiety on a mysterious alien blob that has been discovered in a North Carolina sewer. We here, however, will direct ours towards the colony of super ants that has already taken over the entire globe. The BBC reports that “Argentine ants living in vast numbers across Europe, the US and Japan belong to the same interrelated colony, and will refuse to fight one another. The colony may be the largest of its type ever known for any insect species, and could rival humans in the scale of its world domination.”

This could be very bad news. Ants are collectivists by nature. While the Ant governance is generally a monarchy, if it turns out they are Democrats, it could be bad. If I hear the Queen saying "it takes an Ant Hill" I will know for sure.
and then the ants will have universal health care!
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you guys are too funny!
Obviously they would take better care of the planet, but I doubt they could develop light-speed space travel.
http://blogdredd.blogspot.com/2009/06/ecocosmology.html
I doubt it also, since it is impossible for any physical object to travel at the speed of light. At light speed mass becomes infinite, which cannot happen. At most it might be possible to travel at a substantial percentage of the speed of light.
Before anyone accuses me of "putting on airs" may I point out that this is a level of physics knowledge that would be expected of a middle school student.
Unless you take into consideration an Alcubierre engine, which theoretically makes it possible to travel faster than light by warping the space in front of and behind the craft; instead of going from point A to point B, point B comes to you. No actual movement needed. Then again, the sheer amount of energy you'd need...
All Hail our new super Ant overlords!
Damn, I hope the ants aren't reading this blog, they could either get very smart or come off with bad attitudes towards humans! LOL
I was talking to the cockroach king ("For he is the cockroach king, he is, hurrah for the cockroach king!") the other day and it may be war. He thought HE was on the way to global dominance, and now these ants come along.
Its funny that you would mention ants, cause a huge colony of ants pop'd up right in the middle of my backyard a huge pile of dirt just show'd up in the middle of my grass I look'd at them and there red and black and bite like hell.I tryed to flood them out and they just pop'd back up in a different place with the same type of mound of dirt. They look like Texas fire ants I don't know what they are but they look dangerous.
They're coming to take you away hee hee ho ho, to the funny place, hee hee ho ho, where ants are kings hee hee ho ho! LOL good luck matt!
I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords
I say we spray Raid on our southern borders.
No RAID-
That stuff's bad for you.
This is specifically for Argentine ants
But works for most others too:
The most effective control is through use of slow-acting poison bait, which will be carried back to the nest by the workers, eventually killing all the individuals, including the queens. It may take four to five days to eradicate a colony in this manner. An effective homemade recipe[9] consists of a solution of granulated white table sugar and boric acid, placed in a shallow dish in the area being invaded:
1/4 teaspoon boric acid powder
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon sugar
The boric acid will dissolve only if the water is hot, or one can mix the ingredients cold, then place the container in a microwave oven to bring the water to boiling temperature. When mixed in small quantities, the solution can be stored in a dropper bottle and dispensed as needed to replenish the bait dish. Although the solution isn't particularly hazardous when used in small quantities as described here, the bait dish should be placed out of reach of pets and children.
By the way
They're not big.
community organizers work quietly, never bite!
Thank you.
