1. Syria Bans Turkish Fly Overs
Tensions between Turkey and Syria are turning into a he-said, she-said. Damascus announced a ban of all Turkish civilian planes from flying over Syria beginning midnight on Saturday. A few days ago, Turkey claims it intercepted a plane carrying Russian munitions en route to the Syrian army. The Syrian government denies this, and says Turkey has banned their planes from its airspace. Turkey has not announced a similar no-fly-zone rule, but does say any planes will be grounded if suspect of transporting military cargo.

3. Shot Pakistani Girl Stable
A team of neurological specialists currently treating wounded Pakistani teen activist Malala Yousafzai say that her condition is stable, but “the next 36 to 48 hours are important.” Yousafzai, who was shot in the neck for defending girls' right to attend school, is currently on a ventilator. Military officials are reporting that Yousafzai also showed signs of movement in her limbs Saturday. Meanwhile, Pakistani officials have arrested more than 300 people in connection with Yousafzai’s shooting, but have only 35 of them in custody.

4. Obama Donors Top 4m
Looks like that whole “donate what you can” grassroots campaign strategy is working for President Obama. The president’s campaign announced Saturday it has just surpassed 4 million donors. The cash the Obama camp has raked in is impressive too—$181 million was raised in September alone. The president’s field director Jeremy Bird says the new number of individual donors sets a new record for a presidential campaign.

5. Ryan Bashes Obama’s China Policy
Paul Ryan switched line of attack from Libya to China. At a rally in Ohio on Saturday, Ryan told the crowd that Obama has had his chance to label China as a currency manipulator and he hasn’t seized it. The vice-presidential nominee assured that Romney would not allow jobs or property rights to be stolen by the Asian nation. On Friday, the Treasury said it would postpone a report on whether to name China a currency manipulator until after the election. “If people are manipulating our currency, we are going to say that ‘they are manipulating our currency,’” Ryan said. “If they are stealing our products, we are going to say ‘stop stealing our products or else you have consequences.’”

6. Redbull Skydiver Preps for Jump
Redbull gives you wings—or at least lets you fall? After gusty winds derailed his two previous attempts, the energy drink–sponsored skydiver Felix Baumgartner has been given the go-ahead Saturday night by meteorologists to make his record-breaking, death-defying jump early Sunday in New Mexico. A helium balloon will hoist the skydiver 23 miles into the sky in an attempt to break the 1960 high-altitude parachuting record and break the sound barrier with his body. “I want to break the speed of sound, no matter what it takes,” he said.

7. Shuttle Endeavour Lands in L.A.
Angelenos driving on the 405 this morning may have been more than a little perplexed about the cause of the slow traffic: a space shuttle was slowly making its way across the road. The Endeavour, which was towed across the freeway Friday night, has begun its final journey: a two-day trip to the California Science Center, where it will be on display. Although the trip is only 12 miles, the shuttle has to travel slowly and wait for power lines to be moved out of its path. The aliens must be pretty confused right now.

8. Million Muppet March Set for D.C.
Sesame Street is literally taking it to the streets. On Nov. 3—just three days before the presidential election—a puppet-based protest called the “Million Muppet March” will charge its way down the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The demonstration is an effort to defend PBS from possible extinction after Mitt Romney’s controversial quip at the presidential debate that he would cut funding for the network, despite his love of Big Bird. The two men organizing the march were previously strangers, but discovered each other after one purchased the url millionmuppetmarch.com and the other coincidentally started a Facebook page by the same name.

10. Brad Pitt Slams War on Drugs
Could this be Brangelina’s newest cause? At a screening of the new documentary on drug addiction The House I Live In, Brad Pitt—who recently signed on as the film’s executive producer—called America’s “war on drugs” a failure and a “charade.” "It’s such bad strategy. It makes no sense. It perpetuates itself,” Pitt said. “You make a bust, you drive up profit ... we have to rethink this policy and we have to rethink it now.”

11. 51.4 Million Watched VP Debate
Who’s laughing now? Neilsen ratings released Friday say an estimated 51.4 million Americans tuned in to watch incumbent Joe Biden and vice-presidential hopeful Paul Ryan Thursday. The number is down significantly from 2008, when 69.9 million watched Biden battle it out with Alaska governor Sarah Palin. The executive director of the Commission on Presidential Debates, Janet Brown, told Politico that the inflated number of viewers in 2008 was an “aberration” likely due to excitement surrounding Palin's candidacy. Nielsen's numbers are based on total viewership on 10 major TV networks, excluding those watching online.

12. Springtseen to Campaign for Obama
Does this mean Bruce Springsteen is weighing in on the whole birther debate? The “Born in the U.S.A.” singer will appear with President Clinton at a rally for President Obama in Ohio on Thursday, the campaign announced on Saturday. The event will be free and open to the public. Springsteen, a longtime supporter of Obama’s, has an appeal among blue-collar workers, which Obama will have to get the support of if he hopes to win Ohio’s crucial 18 electoral votes. Obama uses Springsteen’s song “We Take Care of Our Own” on the campaign trail.

13. Shot Fired into Obama Campaign Office
Someone has a sick way of showing their discontent with the president. A shot was fired through the window of the Obama campaign’s Denver office window on Friday. Police say people were inside at the time of the shooting, but that no one was injured. No information is yet known about the shooter or his or her motives, though there are reports of a possible vehicle of interest. The Obama campaign has so far declined to comment on the incident.

14. Masked Men Storm Moscow Gay Bar
Police in Moscow are searching for two dozen men who donned masks and allegedly attacked one of the city's biggest gay bars on Thursday. Upon entering, the men reportedly shouted at the 50 people in the bar, "You asked for a fight? Now you'll get it." They then began to beat patrons, mostly women, with fists and bottles. One of the alleged attackers pulled a gun on the bartender, and another reportedly sprayed a caustic substance in the face of a patron, now hospitalized. Ten people reported injures, and four were hospitalized. The attack coincided with International Coming Out Day.

15. Libya Becomes New GOP Front
After Biden said that “we weren’t told” Americans requested extra security for the anniversary of September 11th at the debate, the GOP campaign latched on to the mishandling of the Libya attack to push against their opponents. Congressional testimony shows the administration turned down the request for more security, and the Romney campaign said Friday that Biden was trying “to mislead the American public” about that fact at the vice presidential debate. The White House shot back that Biden’s statements referred to himself, the president, and other top administration members, since diplomatic security requests are handled by the State Department.

An FBI spokesman warned the community to be on lookout: “It could be your boss, it could be your friend, and ultimately it could be your family member.”

17. Huge Eyeball Likely Giant Squid’s
Some sea monster out there has been having a rough week. A mysterious disembodied eyeball found on a South Florida beach this week probably belonged to a giant squid or a swordfish, marine biologists believe. The eyes of a giant squid can grow to be as big as soccer balls and are easily dislodged. But don't feel bad for the creature it once belonged to—squid can regenerate body parts, including eyes, quite easily.

20. Romney Hopes to Bury Obama in Ads
Maybe the GOP is trying to make voters forget another option exists? Mitt Romney and his allies are going all-out during the last few weeks of the election, spending large amounts of money on a media surge aimed at burying Obama in advertisements. Romney's super PAC, Restore Our Future, has spent $14 million on ads in nine states for the month of October, and plugs for Romney in swing states have doubled and sometimes tripled. The variety of television spots includes both anti-Obama and pro-Romney stances.

24. Turkey to Syria: ‘We Will Retaliate’
One more wrong move from Syria will be one too many. Meeting with the United Nations-Arab League envoy for Syria on Saturday, Turkey’s government announced plans to strike back if its border is crossed again, while Turkish tanks headed toward the Syrian hills. “We will do what’s necessary,” said Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. The fighting between the two countries—which erupted when a Syrian shell killed five in Turkey last week—escalated earlier this week when Turkey intercepted a Syrian-bound plane amid reports that they were carrying Russian-made defense equipment. As Syria’s bloody civil war rages into its 20th month, Turkey’s prime minister attacked the U.N. for its failure to intervene “despite all our efforts.”
