    1. App Lets You Skype With Santa

A Christmas list on a piece of paper? Lame. There’s a new app called “Hello Santa” that allows children to Skype chat with the big man himself. The call connects you to an actual person—not just some digital recording—and costs roughly $16. While that’s a pretty steep price, CEO Dorian Collier argues that it is worth it. "My son is used to using FaceTime with family, and a few months ago he asked ‘Daddy, can I call Santa?'" Collier said. "After not finding a good company offering this service at scale we decided to jump in with both feet.”

Surprisingly, following the procedure, the man called the police to be driven back to the prison, where he was given a warning and an additional day on his sentence as punishment.

Movember has blessed us with something fantastic: chest hair shaved in the shape of a cat. A man, arguably the greatest man to live, is sporting the fuzziest, cutest cat (maybe kitten?) on his chest and face. See, the cat’s tail goes up across his neck and wraps across his upper-lip, doubling as a mustache. Hooray for the Internet!

Pennsylvania police handcuffed ghost hunters who were giving a tour of an allegedly haunted Civil War-era building because they believed they were burglars. The group, including a tour guide and two tourists, were harmlessly—and with permission—wandering the building where the first Union general killed in the Battle of Gettysburg was brought to. Police eventually confirmed with the owner that they were allowed to be on the premises and let them go.

The lunar-grown produce fad is coming. NASA will take its green thumb to space with plans to send plant seedlings to the moon by 2015 in order to begin testing whether the terrain could support long-term human inhabitants. Seeds of basil, turnips, and Arabidopsis—a plant in the cabbage and mustard family—will be sent via the first Moon Express lander, and will act as "canary in a coal mine," NASA says.

Harrison Odjegba Okene, a cook aboard a doomed tugboat, was found alive by divers searching the submerged wreckage in May. A dramatic video of the rescue went viral Tuesday. A diver had come upon a hand seen on a TV monitor showing the wreckage, and assumed it was a corpse. “But when he went to grab the hand, the hand grabbed him!” said Tony Walker, project manager for the Dutch company DCN Diving. Clad only in boxer shorts in the freezing pit of the ocean, Okene survived by breathing oxygen in an air pocket.
