On July 12, 2007, two American Apache helicopters killed more than a dozen Iraqis in the suburb of New Baghdad—casualties that the military said were all “insurgents.” However, among the dead were two Reuters employees, Saeed Chmagh and Namir Noor-Edleen. WikiLeaks has now released video filmed from the helicopters of the attack, and WikiLeaks says the footage shows both Chmagh and Noor-Edleen being killed. Most disturbingly, the video includes footage of the U.S. soldiers firing on men who were trying to rescue one of the injured Reuters employees—and also injuring two children who were in the rescuers’ van. A U.S. military official has confirmed the authenticity of the video, the Associated Press reports.
