Protecting America’s children from “corrupting influences” is one of Bill O’Reilly’s obsessions, but before he was railing against porn he was apparently quite into it: The Boston Phoenix has republished a column Bill O’Reilly wrote for the paper in 1974 in which he watches The Devil in Miss Jones and interviews its director Gerard Damiano. You won’t find much X-rated description, but it’s worth reading anyway for O’Reilly’s purple prose: “A grumous haze, caused by the blending of cigarettes and marijuana smoke, hung over the room,” for example. And this piece wasn’t O’Reilly’s first story on the porn beat: He mentions having carried out a previous interview with Linda Lovelace in the piece. The Internet will be very grateful to whoever finds that interview.
