In sad news for 30 Rock fans, star Tracy Morgan will be missing a few episodes of the comedy series after recently undergoing a kidney transplant. He won’t appear in two to three episodes that are scheduled to air in March. Morgan underwent the surgery on Dec. 10 and though the surgery was successful—he was seen attending a Knicks game Friday—the writers said they want to give him time to recover. The writers, who have previously worked Morgan’s real-life alcohol bracelet into the show’s plot, said they plan on explaining Morgan’s absence by saying his character had a meltdown because something good actually happened to him. Morgan’s rep said the actor is “doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after the surgery.” Morgan was diagnosed with diabetes in 1996 and is a spokesman for the Kidney Foundation.
