During Thursday's celebration of Comcast and NBC Universal's long-awaited union, some NBC employees were vexed by what they saw—or didn’t see: NBC's iconic peacock was missing from the joint company's new, internal logo. Comcast apparently wanted to clean up the corporate logo, so it removed the peacock, globe, and space between "NBC" and "Universal." The new logo is chiefly for internal use, so—rest assured—NBC viewers will still see the peacock. But NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams, who hosted a town hall marking the merger, was evidently disgruntled, saying to new NBCUniversal's chief executive Steve Burke, “It’s our Coca Cola. It’s our Apple. It’s our Ford Motor Co., that instantly recognizable thing.”
