Gunmen Attack Iraq's Largest Refinery

Gunmen attacked Iraq’s largest oil refinery, breaking in with silenced pistols, killing one guard and wounding another, and setting explosives near the production units. It took about five hours and up to 50 fire trucks to contain the blaze, according to Reuters. “We hope work will be resumed in a short period of time,” an Oil Ministry spokesman said. The refinery handles about 150,000 barrels a day; Iraq’s overall refining capacity is currently slightly over 500,000 barrels a day.
