Serena Williams Pulmonary Embolism
Tennis great Serena Williams has had some serious health scares of late. According to her rep, she suffered a pulmonary embolism (aka a blood clot in the lungs) last week and Monday she had emergency treatment for a hematoma that may have resulted from the previous surgery. Williams has been off the professional tennis circuit for months due to a foot injury. Her embolism was discovered upon her return home from New York, where she was consulting a doctor about her "ongoing foot issues."
