Thanks to increased competition from online retailers like Amazon, Walmart has begun testing a grocery delivery service in San Jose, California. Dubbed Walmart to Go, it allows customers to purchase everything from food to medicine and have it delivered to their doorstep for fees starting at $5. Walmart said the test is being limited to the one market, and may or may not be expanded further, pending the results. Among the limited products being offered for home delivery are Tyson grilled chicken breast strips, Horizon organic milk, Sara Lee whole wheat bread, and other items. Walmart already operates a successful home delivery service in the U.K. through its store chain Asda, and recently purchased the social-media startup Kosmix to create a new division called @Walmartlabs that hopes to utilize social media to grab a bigger piece of the online sales pie.
