He was the first GOP contender to make it known that he was running for president, and now former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty is set to make a formal announcement Monday. Pawlenty will officially enter the 2012 Republican race in Des Moines, Iowa, according to one of his campaign aides. After Iowa, he will continue to make appearances in Florida and Washington, D.C. Pawlenty has been running an aggressive campaign since April, which has helped him become more recognizable among Republicans. He has zoned in on Iowa and New Hampshire as states where he hopes to garner early votes to carry him to the nomination. Pawlenty is widely considered the most credible GOP candidate next to former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.
