Chilean Miners Sue Government

Thirty-one of the 33 Chilean miners who were trapped underground for 69 days are suing their country’s government for negligence, saying a lack of safety measures led to their ordeal. The miners were trapped from August to October 2010, after a cave-in at the San Jose mine in northern Chile. They are requesting $540,000 in compensation for each miner.
