    Mass Protest for Islamic Law

    Tens of thousands of demonstrators took to Egypt’s Tahrir square yesterday, but this time they weren’t calling for the ouster of an autocrat—they were calling for the implementation of Islamic law. "Egypt will return to Islamic sharia law! Liberals and secularists are the enemies of Allah! The solution is Islam!" shouted the crowd. A recent Newsweek/Daily Beast poll showed the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice party poised to win the largest share of the vote in Egypt’s upcoming parliamentary elections. The Muslim Brotherhood was outlawed under former President Hosni Mubarak.
