76 Sick From U.S. Salmonella Surge

Beware the turkey burger: federal officials say one person has died from salmonella poisoning reportedly linked to ground turkey, though the government has not yet declared a liable producer or recalled the bacteria-infested meat. No further details have been released about the person's death, though the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 76 people in 27 states have gotten sick from the same strain of potentially deadly bacteria, which is resistant to many antibiotics. People began falling ill back in March, and apparently bacteria cultures of ground turkey from four retail locations tested positive for salmonella.
