Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ thrilling return to the House floor Monday night not only helped solidify a remarkable medical recovery, but also ignited new chatter about her reelection prospects. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, her close friend and head of the Democratic National Committee, said Tuesday that her supporters are helping her prep for a possible run. But otherwise “nothing has changed,” Giffords’s spokesman said later, denying rumors that the congresswoman has already decided to run again. Giffords received a standing ovation from the chamber in a celebratory moment that briefly defused all tensions caused by the ongoing debt debacle. She posted to her Twitter account: "The Capitol looks beautiful and I am honored to be at work tonight.”
