Quake Tweets Hit 5,500 Per Second

How many of them were pictures of the fallen lawn chair? In the moments following yesterday's earthquake on the East Coast, people sent about 5,500 tweets per second, the microblogging service says. That's more tweets per second than were sent after the news of Osama bin Laden's death, and slightly fewer than during the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. The first tweet was sent by user @JordnJnkieJuice, who tweeted  “EARTHQUAKE!!!!” 24 seconds after the shaking began.
