Amnesty International says the Syrian government tortured and killed at least 88 people in detention centers over the past five months. The human-rights group reported that the dead, all male including 10 children, were victims of numerous tortures. Forensic experts discovered broken necks, cigarette burns, electrocution to genitals, and whip lashes, according to the report. The victims were protesters mostly from the cities of Homs and Deraa. Syria currently holds from 12,000 to 15,000 people in detention.
