    NY Legislators: Include Cancer in Zadroga Act

    New York lawmakers petitioned Wednesday for cancer to be included in the government’s health-care program for Sept. 11 first responders. The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, passed by Congress in March, does not include cancer, despite a recent study that says those who worked at Ground Zero in the days and weeks after the terrorist attacks have a higher risk of certain types of cancers. “Nobody should be suffering from cancer as a result of trying to save people’s lives,” said New York Rep. Charles Rangel.
