Elizabeth Warren’s hat is almost officially in the ring. The architect of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is expected to announce a campaign for the U.S. Senate against Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown next year. Brown won the seat in January 2010 in a special election following Ted Kennedy’s death. A recent Massachusetts poll showed that Brown leads Warren by a margin of 44 to 35 percent. The race is expected to be closely watched in 2012.
