Warren Cruises Ahead

Harvard Law professor and consumer advocate, Democrat Elizabeth Warren, center, talks with supporters at the J & M Diner in Framingham, Mass., Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, during her first day of campaigning for a shot at challenging incumbent Republican Sen. Scott Brown in 2012 for his U. S. Senate seat.

Elizabeth Warren, the former head of the Congressional Oversight Panel and a consumer champion, is leading in the Senate race for the Massachusetts seat of Republican Scott Brown. Just one week after she launched her bid, Warren is already leading Brown by a 46–44 margin, according to Public Policy Polling. That erases a 15-point deficit in the last poll in early June. Brown’s numbers have steadily declined, suggesting that Warren’s rise has as much to do with her as it does voters’ disapproving of him.
