Must be quite a trip to go from being a presidential contender to covering the presidential election. Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, a once-promising Republican presidential contender before he resigned after a sex scandal in 2009, will join Fox News as a paid contributor, the network confirmed Friday. He will be on Fox News through the election and well afterward, according to the terms of his deal. Sanford had been considered a rising star in the Republican party until he admitted that he had an affair with a woman in Argentina—and the scandal made national headlines when he disappeared after telling his staff he would be hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
