Home Sales Jump in September

14 Dec 2010, California, USA --- Dec 14, 2010 - Ladera Ranch, California, U.S. - Single family home sold in Ladera Ranch neighborhood. Southern California home sales fell to their third-lowest level for a November in 23 years, the latest sign the region's housing market continued to be ''weak,'' MDA DataQuick reported Wednesday. Regionwide, sales fell to 16,208 in November, down 15.5% from a year ago. The only years when SoCal saw fewer homes sold in a November were 1992 (15,446) and 2007 (13,173. | Location: Ladera Ranch, California, U.S.. --- Image by © Ruaridh Stewart/ZUMA Press/Corbis

Now’s the time to buy a house: U.S. home sales jumped 5.7 percent in September, according to new numbers from the Commerce Department, to an annually adjusted rate of 313,000 homes. That’s still less than half of the 700,000 homes economists say are needed for a healthy housing market. The slight increase likely came because desperate builders slashed prices.
