Perhaps he’d like to begin catering at Zuccotti Park? Mario Batali has angered bankers after comparing them to Hitler and Stalin at Time Magazine’s Person of the Year event Tuesday. Batali was, in fact, nominating bankers to be people of the year, saying they “had the largest effect on the whole planet.” “The way the bankers have toppled the way that money is distributed, and taken most of it into their own hands,” Batali said, “is as good as Stalin or Hitler.” (Both Stalin and Hitler were people of the year, previously.) Now, bankers are saying they’ll boycott Batali’s restaurants, including Babbo and Del Posto. Eater even says that one bank has said it will stop reimbursing receipts from Batali’s restaurants.
