3,000 Cops Storm Rio Slum

This is one way to “shock the peace” back into a neighborhood. Three thousand special forces stormed Rio de Janeiro’s biggest slum, Rocinha, Sunday, in a push to run the drug traffickers out of the community. The operation, called "Shock the Peace," is aimed to clean the country before the 2014 World Cup. Rocinha, which has a population of 100,000, reportedly supplies 80 percent of the narcotics in Rio de Janiero. The next phase of the mission is to find the criminals that have escaped the places police occupied.
