Oklahoma State University women’s basketball coach Kurt Budke and assistant coach Miranda Serna were killed in a plane crash on Thursday evening, along with former Oklahoma state senator Olin Branstetter and his wife, Paula. The basketball coaches were en route to a recruiting trip in Arkansas when the plane, a Piper Cherokee PA-28, crashed under “unknown circumstances” in a wooded area in rural Perry County, Ark. In January 2001, eight people associated with OSU’s men’s basketball team died when their plane crashed in a snowstorm.
