Occupy Boston Defies Deadline

    Occupy Boston protesters appear to have won a standoff: police did not evict them after they defied the mayor’s midnight Friday deadline to evacuate their encampment. About 1,000 people had gathered before in the city’s financial district, and those willing to be arrested linked arms in the main camp. Police say they are working with the protesters to avoid confrontation and arrests.
