Todd Palin Endorses Newt Gingrich

“I don’t know why it would matter to anybody. He’s a snowmobile driver." That was one person’s reaction to Newt Gingrich’s announcement in front of a group of Rotarians today that he’d received a call from Todd Palin saying he’s endorsing the former House speaker for president. Not everyone in the audience found the announcement puzzling and insignificant; Phil Hall, a retired engineer, said the endorsement was “certainly a plus” for Newt because Todd Palin's “wife was a very important figure in the last election.” Still, the endorsement news didn’t rally as much enthusiasm as perhaps Gingrich had hoped—fewer than half the people in the room even applauded.
