The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday upheld a lower court that had blocked Oklahama’s controversial “Sharia ban,” intended to keep Islamic law out of American courts. In a 37-page decision, the court dismissed Oklahoma’s claims that the law did not discriminate against Muslims. More than 70 percent of Oklahoma citizens voted the ban into law, until a district court in the state ruled it unconstitutional and issued an injunction to suspend it. Similar laws are currently being considered in as many as 20 other states.
