Speaking with Face the Nation’s Bob Schieffer on Sunday, Newt discussed the possibility of splitting a ticket with Romney as his running mate, but dismissed the idea as absurd. “Would you pick me?” Gingrich asked. “I am so much my own agent, it would be—it’s inconceivable.” Evading the question of whether he had an endorsement in his jacket pocket for the Republican candidate, Gingrich said, “I’m going to campaign for him ... I’ll do everything I can to help elect Romney. I’m not sure what ‘endorsement’ means beyond that.” After being pressed by the host, Gingrich said, “As far as I’m concerned, I have endorsed him.”
