Seals, Polar Bear Escape Zoo

Heavy rains pounded Duluth, Minn., on Wednesday and flooded two thirds of the Lake Superior Zoo, causing multiple animal deaths and escapes. Eleven animals were killed in the chaos, including a donkey, sheep, and goats. One polar bear and several seals escaped but were eventually recaptured. No human injuries were reported, but flood waters destroyed roadways and sidewalks across the city.
