    R.Kelly: ‘The Notebook’ Inspired Me

    And you thought The Notebook changed your life. 2009 wasn’t just momentous because singer R.Kelly saw The Notebook—probably on DVD because it released in 2004—but apparently the film inspired him to divorce his wife. Specifically, he saw that his 12-year marriage wasn’t exactly the plot of a romantic flick. "As the film credits started to roll, I couldn't move. I burst into tears. People walking past me patted me on the back, trying to console me,” he writes in his memoir Soulacoaster. SPOILER ALERT: Kelly says that he was crying because the hero and heroine of in the movie died together.
