U.S. Representative Barney Frank wed long-time boyfriend Jim Ready seven years after they met at a political fundraiser. “I told him I had a crush on him for 20 years,” Ready said of their first encounter. Some big-name guests made it out to Newton, Massachusetts for the event, including House minority leader Nancy Pelosi, Senator John Kerry and Representatives Steny Hoyer and Dennis Kucinich. In 1987, Frank became the first member of Congress to come out of the closet and, today, he became the first to marry someone of the same sex. The Rep from Massachusetts announced last fall that he’ll retire from the House of Representatives when his current term ends.
