    Dark Money Must Be Stopped

    A constitutional amendment turning off the taps on dark money may be the only way to keep the democratic process from drowning, the New York Times editorial board declared Sunday. While it is too early to tell what effect super-PAC spending has had on the ongoing presidential election, it seems clear that voters have not been swamped in the way some feared. “People just aren’t paying attention to political ads the way they used to,” Republican pollster David Winston said. But groups are likely to retool their approach in coming years, focusing more on destabilizing primaries and congressional races.
