Well, this is awkward. The Lance Armstrong Foundation is making its informal “Livestrong” title official—in order to further distance the organization from its disgraced founder. Armstrong created the charity 15 years ago, after being diagnosed with cancer, but resigned as chairman on Oct. 17 after a USADA report concluded he had been part of the “most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program that sport has ever seen.” “For most of its life, the organization has been known as the Livestrong Foundation, but making that change official is necessary and appropriate during a time of change for the organization,” said spokeswoman Katherine McLane. At the foundation’s office, seven of Amstrong’s Tour de France victory jerseys were taken off the walls.
