Winter Storm Eyes New England

Snowblowers, start your engines. A massive winter storm racing toward New England has the potential to pound the region with more than two feet of snow, according to forecasters. Meteorologists say the storm’s impact hinges on whether the cold front currently moving in from the north collides with a rainy front heading in from the south. The “near-perfect timing of an influx of cold air mixing with moisture” could mean colossal amounts of snow, in Massachusetts specifically. Boston airport officials announced that all flights will be cancelled starting Friday afternoon. While it’s not incredibly likely that the two fronts will collide, New Yorkers’ memory of the 2010 blockbuster snowstorm that trapped all five boroughs under a foot of snow is proof enough: anything can happen.
