The CDC warns that there is a class of “nightmare bacteria” threatening hospitals across the nation. What does that mean? The bacteria is immune to antibiotics and can be fatal to 50 percent of patients who get bloodstream infections. Finally, the bacteria can pass on resistance to other bacteria within their family. The bacteria is known as carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae or CRE. So watch out.
