Karzai: U.S. and Taliban Colluding

    A press conference that would have featured new Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and Afghan President Hamid Karzai was canceled Sunday due to security threats. The cancellation also came after Karzai accused the U.S. of colluding with the Taliban to convince Afghans that the violence will get worse if the foreign troops leave—a charge American and NATO top commander, Gen. Joseph Dunford, called “categorically false.” Karzai said two suicide attacks Saturday that killed 19 people were an attempt by insurgents to show that there will be chaos after foreign troops leave in 2014.
