People across the United States swarmed to convenience stores Saturday in hopes that a $2 lottery ticket may just make them a millionaire. The soaring Powerball jackpot, reportedly now higher than $600M, is the second largest in history—behind the $656M Mega Millions prize from March 2012. By early Saturday afternoon, 80 percent of all possible ticket number combinations for the record prize had already been purchased. The odds of winning are slim: a staggering 175.2 million to 1. But dream on dreamers. If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that someone will be bringing home the gravy.
